Since 1969, Concilio Hispano has provided support and learning opportunities to the Latino community through diverse and innovative programs. Programs focus on building a strong community, developing Latino leaders, and supporting individuals and families to remain healthy and strong.
Concilio Hispano recognizes the intricate relationship that exists between poverty, socio-economic status, educational achievement, health, well-being, and ethnic identity. For these reasons the organization has developed quality programs that incorporate this sensitivity into a comprehensive range of services addressing not only health, educational and economic needs but also personal goals and motivations in order to maximize the quality of individual outcomes and healthy well-being.
Education Department
Adult Basic Education: Seventeen adult basic education classes serve over 200 language minority adults each year providing English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, high school equivalency diploma (GED) preparation classes in Spanish, and Native Spanish Literacy Learning (NLL) for Spanish speakers. Cultural events
Since 1981, Concilio Hispano has sponsored annual cultural events such as the Three Kings Celebration, or Epiphany and Celebra la Vida in order to preserve and maintain our culture and traditions.
Three Kings Day:
Concilio Hispano along with the generous help of local merchants and community residents, has brought this tradition to the Latino children of the North Metro area. Through music, food, and gifts we close the gap between immigrants and their home countries, making the holidays a little brighter for parents and children alike.
Celebra La Vida:
Concilio Hispano celebrates life. In recognition of World AIDS Day, Concilio raises awareness and focus attention on the global AIDS epidemic. This event includes providing information of relevant areas of interest to Latinos such as health care, education, as well as food and entertainment for the entire family.
